Precise Biometrics Offering the Tactivo Case for Personal Identification Verification
As mobile devices become the preferred choice for most consumers, it will bring with it an increasing number of attacks. Public and private organizations around the world are putting in place security measures to address the increasing threats involving mobile devices. Bring your own device (BYOD) policies for companies and increasing financial transactions on mobile devices by consumers make these devices a welcoming target. Precise Biometrics will be offering the Tactivo case, which has a built-in smartcard and fingerprint reader, for government employees.
By the end of the budget year in September of 2013, the government will be mandating Personal Identification Verification (PIV) credentials for government employees and contractors with mobile devices. The US government is making a concerted effort to that ensure cyber security is a top priority for all of its digital assets, whether it is an individual with a mobile device or a facility housing sensitive data. Recent attacks by foreign governments and rogue individuals have made it clear every gateway has to be protected to ensure the safety of the entire network. Precise Biometrics will start offering the phones with the Tactivo features in the first quarter with an initial order delivery of 5000 units for March. Addressing this mandate and meeting the demand will be a very lucrative opportunity for Precise Biometrics as there are a total of 5.6 million government employees and contractors who have to meet PIV credentials. Currently, the company is making the unit available for iPhone’s (News - Alert) only, but the company’s president and CEO Thomas Marschall said they will be introducing Android systems as well as other devices used by US government employees in the near future. “We consider the agreement with this leading Operator, soon to be named, a breakthrough milestone and a very important endorsement of our line of Tactivo products. Their marketing and sales resources are unmatched in the market wherefore we have very high expectations to this partnership, especially considering the size of the Government market,” CEO & president of Precise Biometrics, Thomas Marschall. The platform used by Precise Biometrics provides solutions for recognizing fingerprints to verify the identification of an individual. This system provides a fast, accurate and secure authentication solution for businesses and governmental organizations. Currently, the company has its platform licensed to around 160 million users globally. The Tactivo case provides authentication options to verify the identity of the user by taking advantage of some of the tools available in current smartphones. The case has a built-in smartcard and fingerprint reader and displays government credential photos. The toolkit enables the integration of applications, service providers and third-party identity managers, and it is available for virtually any iOS application.
