By Madhubanti Rudra, TMCnet Contributor
Industry Canada, a regulatory authority responsible for increasing Canada's presence in global trade and building an efficient marketplace, has joined the league of OFCOM, UK, and ACMA, Australia by implementing LS telcom’s spectrum management system. It is designed to support regulatory authorities worldwide in its effort to deliver e-government in spectrum management.
Industry Canada has reached the last leg of its spectram management modernization project. At the final stage of the multi-year project, Industry Canada is now implementing the spectrum management system SPECTRA Enterprise from LS telcom
The ongoing implementation is part of a redesign project aimed at achieving frequency assignment and coordination of all Canadian radio communication services. As part of the project contract, LS telcom is delivering a system that will be used by 500 concurrent. The training and maintenance services for the system will also be provided by LS telcom.
In the first phase of the project, LS successfully delivered a detailed business process and business requirements analysis. At this stage, existing legacy databases and systems were identified and analyzed for the subsequent data migration and system integration tasks, the company explained.
LS telcom’s SPECTRA Enterprise spectrum management solution tends to create a single database for all spectrum data. The solution will be integrated into Industry Canada’s Government internet platform and can be accessed by all the Industry Canada users that include some 500 administrative and technical users. The mobile employees can remotely access the database via internet connection using Citrix.
The users will have to wait till end of 2013 to be able to use the system. In its full capacity, the solution is expected to cover the frequency assignment processes for fixed services. Additional services including broadcast, land mobile and several communication services will be added through future phases.
In addition, SPECTRA Enterprise will support several administrative tasks including equipment certification, investigation, and monitoring analysis.
