By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor
The United States Department of Defense has awarded a purchase order to Route1 Inc. This is a second purchase order for Route1, with the first order being announced on November 13, 2012. With the second order, the client aims to augment its user count to 4,000.
As part of the second purchase order, Route1 will be required to provide a supplementary 2,000 MobiKEY Fusion devices and 4,000 MobiKEY subscriptions to its client. These devices and subscriptions will cover the service period from April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014. In the fourth quarter of 2012, Route1 hopes to dispatch the extra 2,000 MobiKEY Fusion devices.
The service period from December 1, 2012 to March 31, 2013 was covered by the first purchase order. The second purchase order has been valued at nearly US $2 million. All users of the client will be provided their personal identity and access management platform, a DEFIMNET, starting April 1, 2013. A protected Client hosting facility will house the DEFIMNET.
In a statement, Brian Brunetti, President of Route1, said, "Today's announcement is encouraging for many reasons. Not only do we have a highly respected military organization using our technology because of its strong data security architecture but the decision is also being driven by the real cost savings the Client will benefit from as many of the user's turn in their enterprise issued laptop. Users will now only need to use their CAC card, MobiKEY Fusion device and any internet connected personal or other computer to have a secure, remote access session. The Client expects to realize annual cost savings in the order of magnitude of twice the annual cost of using the MobiKEY technology."
Starting January 1, 2013, a European Government, another client of Route1, is expected to decrease the number of employees and contractors using the MobiKEY technology due to financial restraints. As a result, Route1 predicts a decrease of nearly US $460,685 in its yearly gross proceeds.
Best-in-class security and identity management offerings are provided by Route1, headquartered in Toronto, Canada. Clients of the organization include global enterprises like businesses, government and military requiring widespread, protected access to all digital resources and sensitive information.
