Annapolis, MD-based TeleCommunication Systems (News - Alert), Inc. (TCS), recently received $5.5 million delivery order from the U.S. Army.

Under the contract, TCS is going to provide the US Army with the Secret Internet Protocol Router and Non-secure Internet Protocol Router Access Point (News - Alert) (SNAP) Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) satellite systems equipment. The company will also provide maintenance and support services for the systems.

The procurement is being funded by the U.S. Army Project Manager for the Warfighter Information Network - Tactical (PM WIN-T) Commercial Satellite Terminal Program. The contract has been awarded to the company through Army’s World-Wide Satellite Systems (WWSS) contract vehicle, according to a news statement.

TCS is known for highly reliable and secure mobile communication technology. Worldwide government agencies utilize TCS' cyber security expertise, professional services, and highly secure deployable satellite solutions for mission-critical communications.

The company’s SNAP VSAT systems provide multimedia communications capabilities which convey encrypted voice, video and data. “Reliable, secure communications systems are an ever-increasing part of our warfighters' arsenal. With TCS' Army-proven, battle-ready SNAP satellite-based product lines and our committed, experienced field service support professionals, their chances of achieving a successful mission are greatly enhanced,” senior vice president and general manager of government solutions for TCS Michael Bristol noted in a statement.
