As part of the TCS TotalCom portfolio, the TCS WPPL system provides secure point-to-point and point-to-multipoint, line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight transmission of voice, video, and data communications. WPPL enables the USMC to close the gap on the "last digital mile," pushing data services to the network edge using a low-cost alternative to more expensive beyond-line-of-sight satellite communications. "The USMC is employing a variety of innovative communications solutions in order to achieve their goals," Michael Bristol, senior vice president and general manager of government solutions at TCS said in a statement. “TCS' secure, proven, and cost-effective WPPL solution helps them maintain this reputation for innovation and continue their important mission," Bristol added. The U.S. Army Project Manager for the Warfighter Information Network-Tactical Commercial Satellite Terminal Program is managing these procurements through the Army's $5 billion World-Wide Satellite Systems contract vehicle. TCS recently agreed to a third period of performance completion date extension to its U.S. Army World-Wide Satellite Systems Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contract. Initially issued as a five-year, $5 billion multiple awards contract in 2006, the period of performance completion date was last extended through July 27, 2013 and is now extended to March 31, 2014. Since 2006, TCS has received WWSS funded orders totaling about $560 million and currently has over $750 million of not-yet-funded open orders. TCS has won over 70 percent of the awarded tasks upon which the company has bid and has fielded an installed base of more than 1,200 systems. TCS has established a proven track record for more than two decades as a trusted provider of communication technology solutions. TCS TotalCom offers deployable, highly secure communication solutions and complete end-to-end managed services for converged (IP-based) voice, video and data solutions to organizations requiring seamless and secure connectivity between fixed sites and remote operations. In August 2012, TCS received funding of $2.7 million from the U.S. Army for AN/TSC-156 Phoenix Tactical Super-High-Frequency Satellite Terminal Spares.
