SiRRAN Unveils GSMnet Macro for US DOD
By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor
SiRRAN Communications Ltd recently introduced a macro cell solution, GSMnet Macro, for the US Department of Defense. GSMnet Macro will assist SiRRAN’s government contractor associate in deploying remote and emergency mobile cellular coverage for the US DOD.
A huge geographic area can be covered rapidly SiRRAN’s GSMnet Macro. The solution can be installed quickly and is perfect for remote or lightly populated locations with low levels of subscriber or traffic concentrations. The solution can also be used to deliver infrastructure in real-time for assisting disaster recovery and first responder efforts. SiRRAN’s customers, who depend on the company’s flexible cellular networks and equipment in protected, disaster recovery, rural, tactical and mobile environments, will be offered an enhanced communications range with the GSMnet Macro.
A GSMnet Macro and two 2.75G GSMnet F Series servers will be offered to the client. This offering can be directly fitted into the client’s available 19” rack. The GSMnet Macro advantageously utilizes the extensive capabilities of GSMnet F-Series. The customer is therefore offered a sturdy, space perceptive, protected and suitable method of housing a maximum of eight transceivers in a solitary area located in the same 19” rack as the F-series server.
A maximum of 8 15W amplifiers can also be included by the enclosure along with housing the BTS. Depending on the terrain, these amplifiers will augment the range of each BTS by a minimum of 6km. Several BTS operating at different frequencies at the same time are allowed by GSMnet Macro, thereby ensuring least interference and highest flexibility. GSMnet Macro offers a complete range of cellular capacity along with the advantages of resilience, redundancy and fixed uptime.
In a release, Rob Koldys, MD for SiRRAN said, "The GSMnet Macro gives greater communications range, value and power to SiRRAN's clients who rely on our resilient networks and equipment in secure, disaster recovery, rural, tactical and mobile environments."
