St. Vincent's Health Partners, Inc. Selects McKesson To Help Reduce Risk and Drive Better Health
ATLANTA --(Business Wire)--
St. Vincent's Health Partners (SVHP), an independent physician-hospital
organization (PHO), has chosen two new McKesson solutions to help its
organization manage the health of high-risk populations in its southwest
Connecticut community. The solutions are part of McKesson's recent
acquisition of MedVentive,
a leading provider of population and risk management tools that help
drive transparency in healthcare cost and quality. The technology will
enable high-quality analytics, real-time feedback at the point-of-care
and the ability to coordinate care across settings.
In addition, the McKesson solutions will enable SVHP to pursue new forms
of reimbursement. Those reimbursement models share cost savings with
providers who deliver better care at lower cost. SVHP will be the first
PHO in Connecticut to accept these kinds of payer contracts.
"These new capabilities will help position us to deliver the best
possible outcomes for our patient population while maintaining our
organization's profitability," said Thomas A. Raskauskas, MD, President
and Chief Executive Officer, St. Vincent's Health Partners. "Because the
technology was designed with the end user in mind, it's also easy for
physician offices to use and navigate."
SVHP's decision to transition to a more risk-bearing model is a pivotal
step for their organization as health reform unfolds. Assisting
healthcare organizations to improve information-sharing and manage risk
are core components of McKesson's Better Health 2020™ strategy. Better
Health 2020 is designed to enable McKesson's healthcare partners to
address complex challenges as the industry evolves.
"The McKesson suite will enable us to reduce costs and improve care
delivery - including reduced redundancy in labs and radiology, improved
medication regimens, fewer hospital readmissions, and more appropriate
use of the emergency room," Raskauskas added.
SVHP is jointly owned and governed by physicians and St. Vincent's
Medical Center of Bridgeport, Conn. The organization will use McKesson
Population Manager™ and McKesson Risk Manager™ to help serve their
mission to offer the highest quality care in the most appropriate
setting for an improved patient experience.
"With the addition of the MedVentive product suite, we are even more
committed to helping organizations like St. Vincent's Health Partners
maximize the value of core systems by helping to streamline workflows
and improve point-of-care decision management," said Chris Bauleke,
president, population management, McKesson Technology Solutions (News - Alert). "We
look forward to working closely with SVHP to support their providers as
they tackle shared-savings models and drive meaningful improvements in
patient care."
